Lasers Clay Pigeon Shooting is a user friendly and safe alternative to the sport of Clay Pigeon shooting. Clay Pigeon shooting is an Olympic sport which originated in the UK in the late 1800’s. It was designed to allow shooters to practice shooting moving targets similar to game.
It is now a recognised Olympic Sport, at which in recent years Australians have excelled.
Laser Clay Pigeon Shooting uses the same concept of aiming and hitting moving “clay disc’ targets but with an electronic signal sent out and returned on contact with a specifically designed reflective clay pigeon. No actual projectiles are fired from the guns. An infrared light beam with the same spread and range of a shotgun is emitted from the gun when the trigger is pulled. The shooter gets two shots at each clay.
When the signal comes into contact with the flying clay it is reflected back into the gun barrel and transferred to an electronic scoreboard which brings up ‘hits’ and ‘misses’. There are sound effects for the hits and missed shots.
The electronic signals and infrared beams are harmless and the realistic sound effects from the scoreboard are volume controlled and can be varied to suit environmental restrictions.
The clays are physically thrown from an automated launcher, and can reach distances of up to 30 metres. The clays fly and the height, pitch and speed of the trajectory vary for each action. This can be adjusted to suit all skill levels. The clays are retrieved and reused. They also float so we can easily run the activity on a waterfront or vessel/charter.
